You’ve heard me break down what he could bring to the table numerous times, and it’s worth noting that this was a monumental night for Nebraska. Fidone is Nebraska’s highest-rated commitment since Baker Steinkuhler in 2008.
When you take a look at what he can bring to the table, he brings everything. Speed, and size are two of his biggest assets. Measuring in at six-foot-five, 225 pounds, for down almost plays like a wide receiver. He is extremely fast for a tight end, and he will help Nebraska spread the field. he will give them a multi-faceted player that will be able to help them in a both the red zone and in the deep parts of the field.
Nebraska has not had a dynamic playmaker like this at tight end in quite some time. I would argue that they have not had this dynamic of an offensive playmaker on the roster in quite a while. You can make the argument that Wan’Dale Robinson would be that type of playmaker, but he made his mark at the running back position last year. Having a player with height that can get you key catches is invaluable.
Fidone was recruited by Sean Beckton and Erik Chinander. With this commitment, the Nebraska football 2021 class ranks 27th nationally, and seventh overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings.
I never like to mix rankings, but Nebraska jumped from the 36th overall 2021 class to the 20th overall class in rankings from Rivals.com. That shows you how big of a commitment this was.
I am absolutely ecstatic to have him a part of the Nebraska football program. His talents and size should do wonders for the Nebraska offense. Leading up to the commitment on Wednesday night, I had my doubts that he would actually commit to Nebraska. Nevertheless, he delivered.
The winds of change are strong in Lincoln. I can’t wait to see if this will open doors any further for big-time commitments. Landing a four-star tight end is a huge recruiting tool for the program. I’ll get into more of that tomorrow, but what I will say for now is that this commitment will be able to help the Nebraska football program in more ways than one. This was a great job by the coaching staff to land a talent of his caliber.
