Could Nebraska football have an opponent in the future?

As Nebraska football continues to mull over the idea of whether or not to schedule opponents, a couple teams have reached out to Nebraska in the past couple of days, wanting to play games.

North Dakota State reached out to Nebraska on Wednesday per a report from the Omaha World-Herald. The Bison were scheduled to play Oregon on September 5, but the cancellation of Pac-12 football has changed all that.

Even though North Dakota State is an FCS school, they certainly do not lack talent. The program has won eight of the past nine FCS championships. Not only that, they have talent currently on the roster. Quarterback Tray Lance and tackle Dylan Radnunz  are two players to watch.

It will be interesting to see what the Nebraska football program does here. They have made it clear that they want to play football, and they have also made it clear that they are willing to play anybody they can get. It seems like they are willing to do whatever it takes to make things work, and that’s something that is certainly admirable for Scott Frost’s bunch.

Although North Dakota State is a little bit off of the beaten path in terms of opponents, they could provide a challenge to Nebraska. Just because they are an FCS school, that does not mean that they will not provide a challenge. When you take a look at the talent that they have on the roster, I truly believe that they could give Nebraska a game.

Right now, the Nebraska football program has a tremendous amount of talent and it would be a shame not to see it used for 2020. The next question is whether or not Nebraska will be able to find enough opponents to form a schedule on their own. With the determination that the program itself has shown over the past couple of weeks in regards to getting games played, it could very well happen.
