Nebraska Football: Outside linebacker position buzzing with talent
Niko Cooper
Niko Cooper is certainly an interesting prospect. Previously playing at Hutchinson Community College, he is part of the junior college movement that Scott Frost has seemed to fall in love with. Frosts love for junior college prospects is certainly warranted, as the program itself has been able to find some diamonds in the rough.
As far as Cooper goes, he comes to Lincoln after two seasons at Hutchinson. He has three years of eligibility at Nebraska. 2019 was a successful season for him, as he recorded 24 tackles. In addition, he recorded nine tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks well of forcing fumbles. He has a nose for the football and he is a high-motor player.
I am really interested to see what he can do with Nebraska football. He is not necessarily a high-statistic type of player but he is a high motor player. This position is so deep that he hasn’t have to be that guy who is on the field 24/7. He can ease into the defense and allow himself to play at a high level. Measuring in at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, he can also play at defensive end.
