Nebraska Football: Persistence paid off in quest for Nadab Joseph
Nebraska Football got their man.
With the commitment of Nadab Joseph, Nebraska football landed an impactful player in the secondary. However, Nebraska was not even on the radar when Joseph initially concluded his college plans.
Joseph committed to LSU in 2016, but visited an Alabama camp and committed to Alabama on December 5, 2017. He then committed to Georgia on December 20. Joseph was hoping to start a new future with the Bulldogs after Alabama had concerns about his grades. As a result, the Crimson Tide did not send a letter of intent to Joseph

The grades proved to be an issue at Georgia as well. With his options running out, Joseph went to Independence Community College. Ryan Held really liked what Joseph brought to the table, and Nebraska football kept up with him throughout the course of his recruitment.
According to a report from Mike Schaefer of 247 sports, Nebraska football really liked what Joseph brought to the table and were pushing for him hard.
It’s worth noting that the timing worked out decently well here. With the decommitment of Henry Gray, the Huskers were in the market for a corner. Joseph is certainly a corner, and much more. He is a shutdown defender.
As the old saying goes, “Good things come to those who wait.” Nebraska’s persistence throughout his recruitment speaks volumes.
It just speaks to how good their recruiting skills are. Held and Travis Fisher are two of the best recruiters on the Nebraska football coaching staff. They have been proving it, especially in this class.
I’m interested to see the work they will be able to do on future classes. If their track record is any indication, they should definitely be able to make an impact in future classes. Held in particular seems set on making the running back position better
Nebraska has to be commended for their aggressive push for Joseph. There were certainly a multitude of teams who were interested in him. Nevertheless, Held among others was able to seal the deal. I certainly give him credit as well. He was able to recognize a bona fide playmaker.
When it comes to sealing the deal with bona fide playmakers, Nebraska football has had a mixed track record on this as of late. For instance, they lost out on Avante Dickerson in April, definitely a disappointment after many considered him a lock to go to Lincoln.
However, success stories like Joseph’s make it all worth it.
