Nebraska football has a crop of impressive young players. Garrett Snodgrass is one of them.

When players are redshirted, you usually want to see some progress out of them the following training camp. For one Nebraska football player, it appears that progress is abound.

Linebacker Garrett Snodgrass is reportedly making quite a bit of progress. As a freshman last year, he did see a little bit of playing time. He played in three games on special teams, just enough to still have his redshirt. His debut came against Purdue, as he saw action on the kickoff coverage unit. He then was able to get playing time against Wisconsin and Maryland.

He was an absolute stud at York High School. On the defensive side of the ball, he recorded 47 tackles, five tackles for a loss, and a sack his senior year. He showed aggression and great play recognition skills.

Those same play recognition skills are apparently making him stand out in Lincoln. Barrett Ruud had nothing but praise for him when he spoke to the media on Tuesday.

This certainly makes me excited for the future. I love to hear that players are learning the playbook quickly. This isn’t the first time that I’ve heard a Nebraska football player has really understood what the team is trying to do. I remember when they said that Luke McCaffrey was also a smart player. To me, this is a vote of confidence for the coaching staff and the job that they are doing in recruiting.

It will be interesting to see exactly how Snodgrass is used. I feel like he will be an anchor for the linebacking unit for years to come. With his physical play as well as smarts, he will definitely be part of the deep linebacking group that Nebraska football is creating.

I have always had high hopes for Snodgrass, and I’ve been excited to see what he can do. Now, it appears that his time is coming.

When I think of what Snodgrass can bring to the table, I feel as though he will be able to replace players such as Collin Miller and Will Honas once they graduate.

Three under-the-radar commitments for 2021. dark. Next

We are looking at the future right now, and the future looks extremely bright. The fact that the redshirt freshman already seems to have a handle on the playbook is awesome to hear. It speaks to how seriously he is taking his position, as well as the potential intelligence he can bring on the field.
