Nebraska Football continues to make dual-threat QB’s a priority
Nebraska Football offered a quarterback on Sunday
Nebraska football has always seemed to recruit the quarterback position well. Sunday, they began to prepare for the future. Nebraska extended an offer to 2022 quarterback Gavin Wimsatt.
Wimsatt is a dual-threat quarterback. Measuring in at six-foot-three, 200 pounds, he is the sixth overall dual-threat quarterback in his class. He is also the top player in his class from the state of Kentucky.

He currently has 12 offers on the table, and Nebraska certainly has some stiff competition. Kentucky, Louisville, TCU, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech are some of the bigger schools that have extended an offer his way. Currently, Kentucky appears to be the leader in his recruitment.
Currently, he is being recruited by quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco.
What could he bring to Nebraska? When you look at his film, he is a player that can make things happen. As a sophomore in the 2019 season, he had ,2792 passing yards, and 31 touchdowns.
In addition, he proved extremely effective on the ground. He recorded 564 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He is lightning quick, and as soon as he can find a hole with open space, he takes off and runs.
As a passer, he can move around in the pocket and still deliver accurate throws. The deep throws look effortless to them, and he has a cannon arm that he can use to lead open receivers. He is truly a threat offensively, and he can beat you in many ways. He would definitely bring a different dimension to the Nebraska offense.
The Nebraska football 2022 class is still very much in the early stages. They do not have any commitments for the class, although I would expect that to change soon. They have been busy continuing to build their 2021 class over the past couple of days. Thankfully, their efforts have begun to pay off, in a big way.
It’s great to see Nebraska continue to go after dual-third quarterbacks. Head coach Scott Frost has made it clear that dual-threat quarterbacks will be the proverbial engine that makes his offense run. This is certainly a step in the right direction, as these days, quarterbacks need to be mobile and throw the ball efficiently as well.
Wimsatt certainly does both of those things. It will be interesting to see who else goes after the quarterback, and what role Nebraska will play in his recruitment. Hopefully, their recent recruiting luck will be able to carry over
