Nebraska football has a special talent on their hands.

When you talk about incoming Nebraska football wide receivers and their playmaking ability, Zavier Betts certainly fits that distinction.

He is perhaps going to be one of the bigger wide receivers that Nebraska football has had in recent memory. Measuring in at six-foot-three, 200 pounds, Betts is part of a growing trend for Nebraska. He is a big, playmaking wide receiver.

As I’ve talked about before, Betts and Omar Manning can be a dynamic duo. They have the size, and skill to be instant playmakers. They should give Nebraska a 1-2 combo that the program has not seen in quite some time. In particular, Betts could function well on the outside. With the Big Ten conference one of potent offenses and scoring, Betts should figure to be in the offensive plans quite often for Nebraska.

The Lincoln Journal-Star has done a series over the past couple of weeks highlighting the most intriguing Huskers. On Friday, Betts came in at the 22nd spot.

When you really think about it, he is an intriguing player. Due to his size, he can be put pretty much anywhere on the field. Not only that, he is a local kid. That certainly goes a long way, especially since Nebraska football lost out on talented players such as Avante Dickerson. With a coach like Matt Lubick on the staff, this could be a perfect match for Betts. The coach is used to dealing with the open offenses of the PAC-12.

I can just envision Betts winning jump balls on the outside and prying them away from the arms of defenders. With the quarterbacks that Nebraska football has coming in, Betts is the perfect weapon for them. he has the complete package. Speed, size, and strength are three things that show up most in his game. As head coach Scott Frost notes, it’s great to be able to find a talented prospect from your backyard.

"“It’s nice when you look all around the country and as good a wide receiver as we’ve seen around the country is right down the road in Omaha,” Frost said earlier this year. “We have high hopes for him. We need to get bigger on the outside, we need to block better on the perimeter and Zavier will help us do that.”"

It’s clear that Nebraska football has a plan on how to use him. I can’t wait to see how they execute it. Betts is a player that can help out Nebraska football immediately. I could see him becoming a household name for what he does  in Lincoln very soon.  He has all the talents to be a bona fide playmaker.
