The AD gave his own plan for the 2020 Nebraska Football schedule.

Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos has an idea of how he wants to run the 2020 Nebraska football schedule.

If anything, his idea for a schedule is something that would challenge Nebraska for the 2020 season.  For starters, he wants 12 league games on the schedule. He also wants the divisional games in the middle of the season.

For reference, Nebraska football’s division includes the likes of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Purdue, and Northwestern.

That isn’t exactly the easiest schedule to go through. However, it beats facing Ohio State and Penn State in back-to-back games.

As a report from the Lincoln Journal-Star notes, the idea of 12 league games is something that Scott Frost would probably not be fond of. He has expressed his doubts about even adding a ninth game to the usual league schedule.

Having tougher games in the middle of the schedule versus towards the end of the season could benefit Nebraska. As some of you may recall, the program was pretty beat up by the time the Huskers limped into the post-Thanksgiving season finale against Iowa.

However, that would certainly make for a grueling slate. The schedule was going to be difficult anyway, but they could have to face the likes of Iowa and Minnesota in back-to-back games. There’s different ways in which this schedule could go.

"“I will tell you this: I’m pushing for 12 games while protecting the division games and ideally putting those games in the middle of the season so if we have to knock off a couple games in the front or in the back, we still have the divisional games in the core of the season.“I would still stand firm on that in a 10-game (conference-only) schedule.”"

As Moos acknowledges, it’s up to the powers higher than him to decide how this goes. I liked the idea of having a couple of tough out-of-conference games at the beginning of the season. It gave Nebraska a chance to show what they were made of before taking on the grueling conference slate. Now, the grueling conference slate will be appearing in front of their faces.

It’s truly going to be a battle every Saturday. The Big Ten is probably the second-toughest conference in all of college football. Every Saturday is extremely tough. This particular schedule for Nebraska would be grueling. Nevertheless, they have to deal with the hand that they are dealt. This particular roster has a ton of talent. I am confident that they would be able to handle it.

In any event, no one is really sure what things will look like as of right now. Hopefully, we can see some exciting football action in just a matter of months. This Nebraska football team has a lot of promise. I’d love to see them be able to get into a bowl game and give Scott Frost and his coaching staff their first major accomplishment as a group.
