Nebraska Football is still being viewed as a surprise team for 2020.

As we (hopefully) head into the 200 season, Nebraska Football has been generating a ton of buzz already. This is no different than last year really. The Huskers generated a ton of buzz then as well. However, it seems as though the experts have scaled back their expectations a bit. That is probably a wise thing to do, given the difficulty of the 2020 schedule.

Even still, Nebraska Football has a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. With Adrian Martinez (hopefully) returning to form, things could be promising for Scot Frost’s bunch. Loaded running back and wide receiver rooms as well as talent at linebacker are just some of the things Nebraska has to look forward to in 2020.

Josh Pate of 247Sports listed Nebraska as one of the teams that could surprise people in 2020. The talent is all there, the Huskers just need to be able to execute. The schedule starts off with a tough contest against Rondale Moore and Purdue. Things do not get much easier after that. Nevertheless, it should be able to make for some exciting Saturdays, provided everything goes according to plan.

This is a crucial year for Scott Frost and the coaching staff. You have heard me say it a ton of times. Despite the difficult schedule, they have no room for error this year. With the talent they have, they should be able to go toe-to-toe with the best in the conference. Many of the underclassmen in particular have been in Frost’s system for multiple years now. It is time to show what they are made of.

In the meantime, Pate views Nebraska Football as a team that can make some noise.

"“Nebraska has got a similarly backloaded schedule,” Pate said. “It reminds me of that 2014 Mississippi State crew. When it say it is backloaded, I mean it is severely backloaded. They’ve got all the Big Ten big boys on the back half. However, until then, be my guest to take some of those derivatives and some of those prop bets on Nebraska early in the year. Think it could pay off big.”"

Although we have been down this road as fans before, it is certainly nice to hear some optimisim in regards to this year’s group. I personally have high hopes for this group. Upperclassmen will certainly lead the way for 2020.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. This is a make-or-break year for the program. A successful 2020 season can put the program back in the spotlight. A down year would be just another bump in the road. Hopefully we see the former rather than the latter.
