Nebraska Football continues to focus on defense in the 2021 class.

Nebraska football appears to be in the top group for a talented week-side defensive end. 2021 three-star defensive end Logan Fano  put Nebraska in his top eight on Thursday.

He is the 32nd overall week-side defensive end in his class, and the fourth overall player in his class from the state of Utah per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. In addition to Nebraska, Michigan, Wisconsin, Utah, Oklahoma, Washington, BYU, and Virginia were also a part of that list.

When I watch his highlights, I see a player that is very strong off the edge. He was able to overpower his blocker and get into the backfield. Last season in particular, Nebraska football lacked an edge presence. Fano  would definitely be able to ensure a strong presence on the edge for the future. Measuring in at six-foot-four, 230 pounds, Fano uses his size to  get proper leverage on his man. I could definitely see him fitting in the Nebraska football defense down the road.

A commitment from Fano would definitely strengthen the 2021 Nebraska football recruiting class. The decommitment of Christopher Paul Jr. was certainly a minor setback.

They have definitely been able to recruit the defensive side of the ball strongly in this class. Fano would certainly add to that. I’ll be interested to see how Nebraska football fills out the rest of the class. I would suspect that defense will continue to be the name of the game. It’s really interesting to see how they have addressed both sides of the ball the last two seasons.

As you may recall, they landed a bunch of strong offensive players in Alante Brown, Omar Manning, and Zavier Betts. It seems like they are working on strengthening the defensive side of football for the future. That is certainly a good thing, as they often lacked strong defensive play last year. Not only are they recruiting strong defensive players, but they are recruiting athletic playmakers particularly at linebacker.

Next. Assessing the linebacker group. dark

Currently the 2021 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 44th nationally and 10th overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings. All things considered, they have a strong class. I would love to see them be able to get more commitments in the next couple of months, but only time will tell. So far, they seem to be on a strong path in recruiting for the future. A commitment from a player like Fano would certainly be a great get for Scott Frost and the coaching staff.
