Nebraska football will look to him to steady the line.

On Sunday, Rivals.com listed the five best offensive tackles in the Big Ten. Fortunately for Nebraska football, they were represented on this list.

Brenden Jaimes was one of the tackles on this list, and it’s well-deserved. He was a constant on what was an inconsistent offensive line. He provided some stability at the offensive tackle position, and he really showed his worth as a junior last season. Now, as all about building off of that.

It’s hard to imagine him having a better year than last year, not because of lack of talent, but because he was extremely efficient at the position. He only allowed two sacks and seven hurries in 2019.

When you take a look at the Nebraska football line, he is undoubtedly one of the most experienced on the unit itself. As a freshman, he gained a ton of playing time. He recorded 629 snaps at right tackle, and that set him up to be successful at left tackle as well.

From there, he was able to find the position he has truly excelled in. He has played in 1712 snaps at left tackle.

He will be a crucial part of the Nebraska football offensive line moving forward. Like many positions in the program, the line will have depth in the future. Right now, it’s all about gaining experience for that depth.

Jaimes will definitely use his senior season to increase his already-high NFL Draft stock. He will also be counted on to lead the future. I’d expect him to have a big 2020 season, and he will certainly be going up against some tough defenses.

I will certainly be looking to see how he does in pass protection. That was a huge issue for Nebraska football last season. He obviously was one of the few bright spots in terms of pass protection last season. For me, it’s going to be more about him stabilizing the line, and continuing to produce at a high level.

Admittedly, I left him out of my top 2021 prospects for the NFL Draft piece. He should certainly be included on that list. He is worthy of that type of recognition.

I’m excited to see what he can do, and I am hopeful for the line in the future. That’s not something I would have said last year. However, between the recruits already on campus and the emphasis that the program has placed on the line, things are certainly looking up.
