Malcolm should be able to help the linebacker position for Nebraska football.

Nebraska football is continuing to have success in recruiting. This time, they landed an athlete from Iowa. 2021 three-star outside linebacker Seth Malcolm committed to the program on Saturday. He made the announcement on Twitter earlier in the day.

Malcolm is the 17th overall player in his class from the state of Iowa per the 247Sports Composite rankings. In addition to Nebraska football, he also held offers from Boise State, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Minnesota.

What can he bring to Nebraska? When I watched his highlights, I saw him bring a little bit of everything to the table. He played multiple positions, and excelled at all of them. As an outside linebacker, he brings speed and physicality. As soon as the ball is snapped, he bursts through the offensive line and makes the tackle. He would certainly fit well in this Nebraska football defense.

Measuring in at six-foot-three, 195 pounds, he is the perfect size for the outside linebacker position. His commitment to Nebraska adds yet another linebacker to the 2021 class. Randolph Kpai and Patrick Payton are the other two linebackers in the class. That is a very good trio, and one that should be able to hold down the Nebraska football defense in the future.

As noted in a tweet from Sean Callahan of Rivals.com, this commitment marks the first time Nebraska has landed two recruits from the state of Iowa since 2001. Mike Shuntz and Marquis Simmons were the other two linebackers. This is also the fourth Iowa-born player that defensive coordinator Erik Chinander has landed during his time at Nebraska.

In many ways, this is a huge commitment for Nebraska football and its defense. The fact that they were able to pull the commitment from the state of Iowa is even better. Hopefully, Nebraska can plant a proverbial flag down in the state. If they can do that, that would certainly make for some interesting recruiting battles between Iowa and Nebraska. Nebraska has certainly been known for not shying away from any recruiting battle.

Next. Non-conference teams program should schedule again. dark

I’ll be interested to see who else Nebraska can land over the course of the next couple of months. There is no doubt that the 2021 class is looking great, especially after a slow start at the beginning of last month . It just goes to show that you can never count out the Huskers when it comes to recruiting.
