Nebraska football is in the Top 10 for a playmaking wideout.

Nebraska football is in the running for a 2021 receiver. Simeon Price announced his top 10 schools on Wednesday and Nebraska football made the cut.

Price is the 114th overall wide receiver in the 2021  class, and the 106th overall player in his class from the state of Florida per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. In addition to Nebraska, he also holds offers from Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, and Mississippi State. This is a case where I feel as though a star ranking is not indicative of his true talent.

Price is the type of prospect that I believe could gain more momentum in terms of recruiting as the year progresses.

Most recently, he was offered by Michigan State on Wednesday.

What could he bring to Nebraska football? When I watch his film, I see a player that is very shifty and can accelerate when needed. He is not fast on his initial break. However, once he catches the ball, it is off to the races. Measuring in at exactly 6 feet, 195 pounds, he plays bigger than he is. His acceleration and ability to get separation from his defender allows him to be able to play on the outside.

Currently, the 2021 Nebraska recruiting class does not have a wide receiver in it. The class itself is ranked 36th overall nationally and 11th overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. This is a very solid class, and one that will undoubtedly improve as recruiting moves forward. Nebraska has gotten a string of solid commits over the past couple of days, and I would expect it to continue more so in the fall.

Nebraska football could certainly use Rice as a playmaking wide receiver. I am not necessarily a big believer in star ranking. It’s certainly helpful in terms of judging a prospect’s overall talent. However, especially with three-star rankings, prospects tend to play bigger and better than indicated.

It would be great if Nebraska could land another wide receiver. They will certainly have the quarterbacks to be successful for the future. Now, they just need to supply those quarterbacks with weapons. Price would certainly fall under that umbrella, and he is certainly someone that could fly under the radar. If Nebraska could land him, that would certainly help them in recruiting.  They seem to have good momentum in terms of landing prospects right now. Now, they need to capitalize on that momentum.
