Nebraska football made the Top Eight for a physical running back prospect.
As Nebraska Football looks towards recruiting for the future, several talented prospects have the program in their final lists. Sunday night, the Huskers made the top eight of 2021 running back Javion Hunt.
Hunt is the 27th overall running back in his class, and the fifth overall player in the state of Oklahoma per the 247Sports Composite Rankings,
In addition to Nebraska, Memphis, Baylor, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Arkansas, and Minnesota all made his top eight. Most recently, he received an offer from Air Force on February 26.
At the high school level, he played both the running back position and strong safety position. Measuring in at 6 feet, 185 pounds, Hunt is a bulldozer. I watched some of his film, I was amazed at how physically he played for a running back his size. He had excellent vision as well, and he was able to weave past defenders. He did not dance before hitting the holes, he saw the hole and ran.
He would definitely add another explosive layer to the Nebraska running game. The way he barrels downfield would certainly help a Nebraska offense that needs to move the football better.
Nebraska currently does not have any skill players in the 2021 class. Hunt would certainly give the Nebraska offense a boost. They are pretty well-stocked at running back, but they could always use some depth. What we are seeing here and what we have seen throughout the past couple of offers is Nebraska football trying to build something bigger for the future.
I’ll be interested to see how the commitment goes. This is not a commitment that Nebraska absolutely needs to have in order to function in the future. However, landing hunt would definitely put Nebraska in better position with their running game. Seeing how Nebraska relies on their running backs frequently, he would definitely be able to find a spot in Lincoln.
