Measuring in at six-foot-one, 175 pounds, Morris played extremely well for Carrollton High School last season. He threw for 2,186 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also proved to be extremely effective on the ground. He carried the ball 58 times, for 379 yards, and eight touchdowns. He did a little bit of everything when he was under center.
Morris has many offers from several big-time schools. Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, and Michigan have all extended offers his way. He is certainly a highly-coveted quarterback. Most recently, LSU offered him on April 2.
What could he bring to Nebraska football? He is extremely shifty in the pocket and is able to avoid pressure from defenses. On top of that, he has a strong arm, and is able to make throws on the run. He would give Nebraska another dual-threat quarterback to work with. They have already made that style of play a focal point in their offense. Morris could help add to that.
When I watch how he plays, I see a quarterback that can help carry the offense, and keep plays alive. That is certainly important in a conference where every yard matters. He is similar to guys like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson in that regard. Let me be extremely clear. I am not saying that he is going to be as good as them. However, that type of quarterback is becoming more prevalent in the game of football today.
Nebraska football certainly wants to add a quarterback to the roster. This is a position where they have recruited extremely strongly over the past couple of years. It will be interesting to see who they can land as they try to keep the good quarterbacks coming into the program. So far, Nebraska football has done a great job of getting impact talent. I don’t expect that to change or slow down anytime soon. Scott Frost is officially taking over the program and putting his stamp on it.
