Nebraska basketball is looking to make the most of these next couple weeks.

One thing is for sure, Nebraska is going to look different next season. With star point guard Cam Mack deciding to enter his name into the transfer portal, that just added insult to what was a difficult season for Nebraska basketball all-around. However, there could be some good news coming shortly.

According to a tweet from Christopher Heady of the Omaha World-Herald, the coach hinted on Thursday that there could be more signings to this roster within the next couple of weeks. It is important to note that Nebraska has two scholarships available right now.

There is talk that Nebraska has been making a hard push after center Adama Sanogo. Sanogo is being recruited by Matt Abdelmassih.  Measuring in at six-foot-nine, the center is very talented and has tremendous rebound ability. That would certainly be a much-needed commitment for a team that struggled rebounding last season. There is no doubt that Yvan Ouedaogo is going to be a special player. However, he has to develop a bit more.

I am certainly intrigued by Hoiberg’s comments. He has shown he has the ability to build the roster, and he did so last year in a short amount of time. Now, with a year under his belt, he is beginning to build a foundation. Ultimately, I feel as though the foundation will lead to success. I certainly enjoyed the up-tempo offense that Nebraska had last season. It just was difficult for the team to score at times.

It doesn’t sound like a ton, but two open scholarships make a huge difference. I’ll be interested to see how Nebraska basketball works to fill those scholarships. There are certainly a lot of directions they can go in, and Sanogo would certainly be a nice addition to the class.

I certainly trust Hoiberg and recognize that this is a difficult rebuild. Although this year didn’t go particularly well, I trust the coaching staff to get Nebraska basketball back to where it needs to be.
