Nebraska football is continuing to try and land impact players.

Nebraska football was busy on Thursday, continuing to try to lock up commitments for the 2021 class. They extended an offer to three-star athlete Patrick Hisatake. ($)

Hisatake is not ranked in 247Sports Composite Rankings, but he is ranked in the 247Sports overall rankings. He is the 102nd overall athlete in his class and the fifth overall player in the state of Oregon.

He is certainly valued across the college football landscape. In addition to Nebraska football, he also has offers from Arizona State, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, and Oregon.

In high school, he played outside linebacker as well. When I look at his highlights, it is very evident why he was so successful at the position. He is a physical football player. He is not afraid to come up and make a tackle, and he has excellent vision in regards to where a play is going. He wraps up and makes a solid tackle almost every play. Measuring in at six-foot-five, 240 pounds, he is the perfect size for an edge defender or outside linebacker at the collegiate level.

Currently, the 2021 recruiting class is loaded for Nebraska football, and we are only in the early stages of recruiting.

With four commitments, the class has a solid foundation. Randolph Kpai and Teddy Prochzaka headline the class. Nebraska has been busy offering impact players over these past couple of weeks. Hisatake certainly fits that distinction. He is the type of pass-rushing asset the program needs.

Nebraska football had a lot of trouble getting to the quarterback last year. If they can land commitments from big-time defenders, the pass-rushing issues will be a thing of the past. I love the fact that Nebraska is continuing to look for players that have a chance to play right away.

It seems like  over the past couple of seasons, Nebraska has been outpaced by the rest of the Big Ten. Scott Frost and his coaching staff are definitely trying to close that gap.

Will be interesting to see what the program can do with the rest of the 2021 class. They have already landed some big-time players and it seems like the program itself is recruiting with a purpose.
