Nebraska football continues to try and work its magic on the recruiting trail.

Even as things have turned the college football world upside down, Nebraska football is still busy making offers. Saturday, they extended an offer to 2022 pro-style quarterback Stephen Angeli. Angeli is not ranked in the  247Sports Composite Rankings but he is a three-star quarterback in the regular 247Sports Rankings. His the 13th overall pro-style quarterback and the seventh overall player in the state of New Jersey.

In addition to Nebraska, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Michigan all extended offers his way. His recruitment has really picked up over the last year, he was offered by Rutgers on June 22 and took an unofficial visit to Penn State. That same day, the Nittany Lions extended an offer to him. He received an offer from Michigan on December 12, 2019, and after that things quieted down.

How would he be able to fit in a Nebraska offense? The answer is, quite easily. Angeli looks extremely comfortable in the pocket and has a strong arm to boot. Especially when pressure comes his way, he looks at ease. He has the ability to throw a deep ball very effectively, something that Nebraska football has been lacking. The best part about this is that he is also a running quarterback. It’s interested that he is listed as a Pro-style quarterback. Nevertheless, I would not mind a quarterback that focuses on passing in the pocket first.

The Nebraska football 2022 recruiting class is still in the works. We have seen in the program do a ton of work with the 2021 class.  So far, there are no recruits in the Nebraska football 2022 class. Landing a quarterback like Angelli would certainly be a big commitment not only for the class, but for Nebraska football moving forward.

We have seen several times during the recruiting process situations where Scott Frost and his coaching staff have begun to look towards the future. This offer is no exception.

It will be interesting to see what type of talent Nebraska football can continue to bring in at the position. Already, Nebraska has a loaded quarterback room for the 2020 season. There is not a bad quarterback in the bunch. If they can continue to stockpile quarterbacks, that would only be a benefit for them moving forward. Nebraska has been very successful on the recruiting trail as of late, and they would be wise to continue extending offers well their momentum is still strong.
