The Nebraska football lineman is turning the heads of coaches.

The Nebraska football offensive line was a debacle last season. It didn’t take any sort of inside analysis to see that. That’s why the program needs a lineman like Turner Corcoran. He is impressing the coaches so far, and I can’t wait to see him in game action.

Corcoran came to Nebraska as a heavily-touted recruit. He was ranked the fourth overall offensive tackle prospect in the 2020 class and the top player in the state of Kansas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.  Committing the day of the spring game on April 13, he certainly has been in the fold for quite a while.

In an article written by Parker Gabriel of the Lincoln Journal Star, offensive line coach Greg Austin says that Corcoran can play multiple positions. This of course would be extremely helpful given the state of the line last season. Yes, new blood will be coming in so Corcoran will not actually have to play all four positions. Yet, that versatility will be extremely helpful if ever needed. It must be nice as a coach to have that type of flexibility.

Corcoran played the left tackle in high school, but played the guard position at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio last month. It was fascinating to see him play. Just the raw strength he had was impressive in of itself. Corcoran is a player that can play right away, although he will probably need some time to get acclimated to the college football life. Even still, Austin has high hopes for Corcoran and so do I.

"“He can play multiple spots. He can play four spots,” Austin said. “I look at it like center or guard/tackle. He can play four spots.”"

The fact that the coaches think Corcoran can play multiple positions makes a little bit of sense. When you consider that he is six-foot-six, 285 pounds, he certainly has the body size to be effective anywhere. That versatility could come in handy later in the season. Especially if the line suffers an injury, Corcoran would be there to fill in if needed. There are a lot of possibilities with him.

Corcoran is certainly one of the more highly regarded recruits in the Nebraska football 2020 class. Hopefully, he can make an impact sooner rather than later. Nebraska football needs help on the line right now, and he can provide it. I’ll be interested to see where Nebraska slots him in on the line.
