Nebraska football has a tremendous talent waiting in the wings.

Take a look at some of the players that Nebraska football redshirted last year, there is a ton of talent there. One of those players is defensive lineman Ty Robinson. I was extremely excited for Nebraska recruited him in December 2018, and hopefully, he can make an impact this year.

The gentlemen over at the Husker247 podcast think he can. Brian Christopherson and Michael Bruntz both picked Robinson as a guy that would be able to help Nebraska right away in 2020. When you take a look at what he can do, it makes sense. He is an explosive pass rusher who can get to the quarterback and he has size as well.  A four-star recruit while a prospect, Robinson measures in at six-foot-five, 283 pounds.

When you look at what he can do in terms of pass-rushing, he uses his size to get the upper hand on his man. He is another player who can immediately help the Nebraska football pass rush. I have talked a ton about the fact that Nebraska has managed to identify their needs from last season. They wanted to focus on edge rushers and players that can get to the quarterback. Robinson certainly fits the bill.

Quite frankly, they could have used him last season. However, it was important for Nebraska football to be able to preserve his redshirt. Now, he has a year of the college football lifestyle under his belt, and that should be able to help him this season. The Cornhuskers will need all the help they can get with that tough schedule.

I personally think he can be a major factor. You remember how the Nebraska football coaching staff went all-in recruiting him. He was a four-star recruit for a reason. Nothing on any of his highlights that I have watched suggests that he will disappoint. Especially now that he has had a chance to work with defensive line coach Tony Tuioti a bit, that certainly works to his benefit.

I’m excited to see what Robinson can do. Nebraska football made him a top priority when recruiting him. Now, we’ll have to see if the recruiting work pays off. He has the talent and size to be one of the best pass-rushers in the Big Ten Conference. In what is a crucial year for the Scott Frost era, Robinson could make the difference between winning and losing. Getting to the quarterback was a huge issue last season. Ideally, Robinson should be able to fill the gap there.
