Nebraska basketball is looking to stop the losing streak.

Nebraska basketball will have a tough contest on Tuesday as they are set to take on ninth-ranked Maryland. They are going to be without two starters to boot as Haanif Cheatham has a calf contusion and Dachon Burke has the flu. They are coming off a 96-72 loss to Iowa. In defeat, Jervay Green played well, scoring 18 points on eight-of-12 shooting. He also recorded seven rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes of play.

In the meantime, Maryland is coming off of a close 75-66 win against Iowa. Maryland’s stars did their part. Anthony Cowan Junior scored 20 points in 33 minutes of play. He went six-of-11 from the field and three-of-five from beyond the arc. Junior Darrell Morsell had a great game as well. In 33 minutes of play he scored 15 points and provided great secondary scoring for a very-balanced Maryland team. It is also worth noting Eric Ayala’s contributions the sophomore scored 12 points in 29 minutes of work.

The Kenpom rankings are not in Nebraska’s favor. The Cornhuskers are ranked No. 138, while Maryland is ranked eighth overall. This will be a tough game for a Nebraska team that is reeling at the moment. They will just have to weather the storm in this one.

Key to the Game

The key to the game for Nebraska will making sure they control the pace of play. They can allow this game to become a track meet or else they will get blown out right off the bat. They need to hold onto the basketball as long as possible, and slow the game down. Taking their time on each position will help them disrupt Maryland’s offensive flow. It may not help them win the game, but it will slow Maryland down.
