Nebraska football should be in good shape on Wednesday.

Signing Day is right around the corner for college football. Fortunately for Nebraska football, they got a lot of their work done during Early Signing Day.

As noted in a report from Parker Gabriel of the  Lincoln Journal Star, Nebraska football only really has one player that is on their radar for Wednesday. Tanoa Togiai , a defensive end, is the name in question. As I talked about a little bit last week, he could be a nice additional depth piece for Nebraska football. Besides that, Nebraska got most of their work done in December.

It’s not just Nebraska that is taking advantage of the early opportunity. 76.8% of the 2020 class signed in December. That is certainly an impressive amount.

That is a good thing in my estimation. For one, it means the Nebraska football coaching staff identified their targets early. For another, it means that they were able to seal the deal. The fact that Nebraska football is not waiting for any major Signing Day decisions is a very good thing. Now, Nebraska can, for the most part, just sit back and relax. They have done the majority of their work for 2020. In turn, they can begin focusing more heavily on the 2021 class. They have already put a solid class together, and their work is far from complete.

If their efforts are anything like what they put into the 2020 class, the class of ’21 should pan out pretty nicely. Now, we are going to see head coach Scott Frost really put his stamp on these next couple classes. That is exactly what should be happening. So far, the work he has done to bring in talented players has been noticeable. Now, we’ll have to see what they can do on the field. We already saw a little bit of the 2019 class shine last year. The 2020 class should have  their opportunities to shine as well.

It’s a far cry from what Signing Day was even a couple years ago. Now, many college prospects are opting to make their decisions early. As for Nebraska football, they have taken full advantage of the Early Signing period.  Nevertheless, it will be nice to not have to worry about whether Nebraska will be able to land the big prospects. The team will be able to continue focusing on how to get better for the upcoming season. It should be able to be a fun one.
