Nebraska basketball is set to take on Penn State Saturday.

Nebraska basketball is set to take on the 24th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday as the program looks to get back on track.

Penn State beat Indiana in their last game by a 64-49 margin. Lamar Stevens played a huge role in the victory. He scored 17 points on seven-of-21 shooting. That included going three-of-eight from the free-throw line. Senior Curtis Jones tallied 12 points off the bench, and the duo was a huge boost to a basketball program that is soaring.

In the meantime, Nebraska basketball struggled against Michigan in their last time out. Cam Mack and Haanif Cheatham had 19 and 17 points respectively, but it was not enough to overcome a tough Michigan team. They also had a major scoring drought over the course of the game. It certainly made things difficult.

In the latest Kenpom rankings, Penn State sits at No. 19 while Nebraska checks in at No. 131. It will certainly not be an easy game on Saturday night.

Key to the Game

Nebraska needs to be cautious with the basketball on Saturday night. Jamari Wheeler leads the Big Ten in steals per game with 1.8. Mike Watkins leads the Big Ten in blocks per game with 2.9.

On top of that, Lamar Stevens is fourth in the Big Ten in steals per contest with 1.3. This is a very well-rounded team defensively. Nebraska needs to make sure they make crisp passes and don’t force anything. If they do, it could be a long night for the Huskers.
