Nebraska football is continuing to recruit for the 2020 class.

As Nebraska continues to recruit before Signing Day next week, they are stopping in to see a prospect.  Tanoa Togiai is a target for the Cornhuskers, and he would certainly help the defensive end position. Listed as a strong-side defensive end, he measures in at six-foot-six, 295 pounds. He is a three-star prospect and the third overall player from the state of Idaho in his class per the 247Sports Composite Rankings

In addition to Nebraska, he also has been offered by  Kansas State, Brigham Young, Colorado, UCLA, and Virginia. Most recently, he took a visit to Washington, 23 days after he was initially offered by the program.

What could he bring to Nebraska football?  He would be a tremendous run-stopper for the program. His size allows him to get the upper hand on his man, and make a play in the backfield. If he doesn’t make the tackle, he is still a disruptor. He is exactly the type of player Nebraska football needed last year. They struggled against the run last year, and at times it was a bit disappointing watching teams run all over them. Togiai could help fill that void.

Currently, the 2020 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 24th nationally and is fourth overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings. Togiai would certainly add tremendous talent to the room. Being a 2020 player, he would be able to join the freshman class. Initially, I thought that the 2019 recruiting class would be the one that shines this year. However, it appears that the 2020 class will have enough playmakers that will be able to make an impact this year as well.

I will be interested to see how this progresses, especially with signing day coming up. Nebraska’s 2020 class is mostly complete, but adding a player like Togiai could help add additional depth and strengthen the foundation of the program.
