Riley should be counted on heavily for Nebraska football in the coming years.

The Nebraska football run defense is slated to get a boost in 2020. One of the more overlooked signings of what is a stacked class will help provide support there.

Defensive tackle Jordon Riley is ready to go. He was an intriguing signing for Nebraska football, and his stature alone will help clog the running lanes. Measuring in at six-foot-six, 250 pounds, Riley should help provide some protection up the middle.

Especially when you consider that the Nebraska run defense has lost the likes of Darrion Daniels and the Davis brothers, Nebraska did a nice job in making sure that Riley would come to the program and help them fill the gap.

Riley had a great season for Garden City Community College last year. He had 26 tackles including 3 ½ for a loss. He also had two sacks.

He will certainly have big shoes to fill, as Nebraska will be looking to sure up their run defense. Often times, transfers get  some time to get acclimated to the program. Riley may have to hit the ground running. He will certainly be a player that defensive line coach Tony Tuioti can work with. I will be interested to see exactly what type of role he plays, but having played in a big-time college football environment before, my guess is that he will be a key member of the defense in short order.

As noted in a report by Brian Christopherson of 247Sports, Riley has had no complaints about his time in Lincoln so far.  He is quick to note that he likes the people associated with Nebraska. He has certainly given them a ringing endorsement.

"“It’s a football school. They’re all about football. That’s somewhere I want to be,” Riley said in a video released by Husker athletics. “As a person that loves the game … I think it’s a perfect fit for me. There’s so many players I could name on my fingers that went here and became great.”“It’s been amazing, man. I love the people here … They won’t lead you astray. They’re always willing to help, so I’m adjusting fine. It’s a big difference coming from Kansas. The facilities are second to none,” he said."

I would expect to see him in the box score early and often. The Nebraska football coaching staff has done a nice job of landing under-the-radar community college players. They don’t seem to be scrubs either. These are players that are ready to come in and ball out for Nebraska football. The desire to play football is something that was missing by some players last year. Now, it seems Nebraska is getting more players into the program who just want to play. Riley should be able to fit in quite nicely.
