Nebraska Football would benefit from lineman Ru’Quan Buckley
Nebraska Football is in the mix for a talented lineman.
Nebraska football continues to recruit for the 2021 class, and they are making sure to stock up on the defensive side of the football. 2021 three-star linebacker Ru’Quan Buckley has been offered by the program and is one of Nebraska’s top targets per a report from Steve Wilfong of 247Sports. ($)
Buckley is the 41st overall strong-side defensive end in his class in the 19th overall player in his class from the state of Michigan per the 247Sports Composite rankings
Buckley has been offered by several other programs in addition to Nebraska. Central Michigan, Iowa State, Kentucky, and Toledo have extended offers his way. Most recently, he visited Michigan on November 16.
What can he bring to Nebraska football? In watching some of his highlights, he is an aggressive football player. Measuring in at six-foot-six, 260 pounds, he is very explosive when he blocks. As soon as the ball is snapped, he immediately locks into his man.
He also has the ability to drive his opponent backwards. He would definitely fit in the Nebraska football offense. My thinking is that he would excel most in the running game. The way he would be able to clear lanes and create holes would be a tremendous asset for Nebraska football.
The 2021 Nebraska football recruiting class is shaping up nicely. They only have four commitments at the moment, but two of them are of the four-star variety. Nebraska’s class is definitely on its way to being a solid one. It is ranked 13th nationally and fourth overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports team rankings. Adding a player like Buckley would only further strengthen the class.
I’ll be interested to see how Nebraska rounds out the 2021 class. Obviously, there is still a lot of time left to make the class even better. However, there is no denying that they have gotten off to a hot start. This only bodes well for the future and it seems like Scott Frost and his coaching staff have made a concerted effort to get big-time playmakers. I certainly like the direction they going in recruiting-wise.
