This is a sign that the season is getting closer for Nebraska Football.

A date for the Nebraska Football spring game has been set. Saturday, April 18 is when the game will take place. A time has not been announced yet.

Last year, it was a huge affair, with the Big Ten Network televising the game. According to a report from Parker Gabriel of the Journal-Star, Nebraska expects to begin their spring football practices around Monday, March 9.

This year’s spring practices should be interesting. There is set to be battles at several positions, most namely quarterback. You would have to think that Luke McCaffrey and Logan Smothers would add a little bit of pressure to Adrian Martinez. Also, I’m excited to see what the group of running backs can bring to the table. There is a ton of depth at the position, and it should make for a spirited spring.

With Omar Manning and Alante Brown also in the fold in the 2020 class, the wide receiver position should be that much more talented for next season. This offense has a chance to be extremely explosive, and the combination of mobile quarterbacks and talented wide receivers should make for a lethal offense for Nebraska Football.

Defensively, I am definitely going to be looking into the secondary. With the departure of Lamar Jackson, someone is going to need to step up at the position and fill the void. Nebraska was able to land Ronald Delancy III and Tamon Lynum in the 2020 class. DiCaprio Bootle, Cam Taylor, and Noa Pola-Gates all figured to be a part of the equation in the secondary two. Bootle and Taylor are two veterans to watch in that group.

This Nebraska Football roster figures to be a ton of fun next season. There are a lot of young pieces that could be able to make an impact right away. I want to see exactly how they fit into the equation, and the spring game would certainly be a great showcase. Year three is going to be pivotal for Scott Frost and his coaching staff. Hopefully, they can work their way towards a bowl game in 2020.
