Nebraska Football has decided to part ways with running back.
Nebraska Football has decided to move on from Maurice Washington. According to multiple media reports, the program has dismissed Washington from the team this dismissal has not been confirmed by the school.
This past season was a rocky one for Washington. On the football field, he started off strong for Nebraska. His last game appearance was against Minnesota and he left the team during the first by week. He did not appear on the field after that, and it was becoming clear that he was no longer going to be a part of the equation.

He still faces two charges in California court relating to the sexually explicit videos that he sent to a former girlfriend. The girl in the video was underage. It’s important to note that he did not film it and he was not in the video. As a report from Parker Gabriel notes, he also is facing some team discipline matters.
To be honest, I kind of saw this coming. The 2020 recruiting class, combined with the depth that the team currently has at running back was the signal to me that he would no longer be part of the program. Dedrick Mills, Wan’Dale Robinson, Sevion Morrison, and Marvin Scott III all figure to be a part of the equation next year.
In my opinion, the reason for the depth in the class was because Nebraska football knew that the Washington situation was not going to turn out well. Thus, they stockpiled running backs and made that a position of note in recruiting.
Washington finishes his Nebraska Football career with 127 rushing attempts for 753 yards four touchdowns.
There is no doubt that he had tremendous potential. He just could not stay out of trouble off the field. For his sake, I hope everything turns out well for him and that he can get things back in order. I’d hate to see a talent like this go to waste, but his problems are much bigger than football.
