Nebraska Football continues to try and get better at running back.
The recruiting doesn’t stop for Nebraska Football, not even during the holidays. Earlier Tuesday, it was reported that Nebraska has offered ($)2021 three-star running back Devin Neal.
Neal is the 52nd overall running back in his class, and the fifth overall running back in the state of Kansas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. In addition to Nebraska, Neal has also been offered by Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, and West Virginia. He is being recruited to Nebraska by running backs coach Ryan Held.

It would make sense that the two in-state schools are recruiting him hard. He most recently took a visit to Kansas at the end of August.
Normally, I wouldn’t find anything necessarily special about this offer from Nebraska. He is a very talented player, there is no doubt about that. However, there is more to this offer than just what Neal brings to the table. To me, this tells me that Nebraska Football is continuing to try and stock the running back room.
Currently, Nebraska has seven running backs on the roster. Dedrick Mills will be a senior next year, while Sevion Morrison and Marvin Scott III will be coming in. No decision has been made on Maurice Washington, and his classmate Jaylin Bradley will be a junior next year.
Wan’Dale Robinson, Rahmir Johnson, and Ronald Thompkins will all be sophomores. The bottom line is, the running back from is loaded for Nebraska. I find it interesting that they are continuing to make an effort to stock the running back room. This is an extremely deep position.
However, I don’t mind it at all. Held has done a nice job recruiting running backs, and he has definitely managed to land some tremendous players for Nebraska Football. With Mills and Robinson two of the players he recruited, he has certainly been able to make his mark for Scott Frost and the Nebraska Football coaching staff.
I’ll be interested to see how many more 2021 players Nebraska Football recruits. They need to continue to stockpile the cupboard for the next couple of years. It appears that they are doing that. If the 2021 class is anything like the 2020 recruiting class, then it should lead some talented players to Lincoln.
Scott Frost has talked about making his mark on this program. These next couple of recruiting classes should allow him to do that. I can’t wait to see how they produce, and I think they will help the program be successful in the future.
