Nebraska Football: Omar Manning commitment huge get for program

Nebraska Football got a major commitment on Friday.

Nebraska Football has their man. According to multiple media reports, Nebraska has landed four-star wide receiver Omar Manning.

Manning is the top junior-college wide receiver in his class, as well as the top receiver in the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is ranked second overall nationally. Most reports say that he is going to be a two-for-two player in regards to his eligibility. This is definitely good news for Nebraska Football as it will give him multiple years in the program.

This is a huge day for the program. I personally thought he was going to wait until Early Signing Day to announce.  Instead, he announced early. Many recruiting sources and websites pointed to him being heavily favored to go to Nebraska. Even still, it’s much more comforting when it is officially announced. We can now officially count on him being into the fold.

This is the big-bodied type of receiver that the program has needed for quite some time. Not only does he fill a need, he is extremely talented. I can definitely see him being a threat in the open field and in the red zone as well. I certainly wouldn’t want to go up against him when it comes time for a jump ball. Between the mobile quarterbacks that Nebraska is set to have in the future and the catching skills of Manning, this could be a very good combination for Nebraska.

With the commitment of meaning, the Nebraska Football 2020 recruiting class continues to climb up the charts. The 2020 class ranks 26th nationally and fifth overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

I am so happy he is committed. I was afraid  we were going to have to sweat it out until Early Signing Day. This is the type of player that Nebraska has needed for quite some time, and now I can relax and begin to envision how he will excel in this offense.

This was a huge get for the program in the sense that they were able to land one of the top receivers in the country. Hopefully, other players will see the Manning commitment as a sign that things are continuing to get better at Nebraska. The fact that Manning committed is just proof of that. I can’t wait to see what else they can do as they look to continue improving the roster.
