Nebraska Football was on the receiving end of  a decommitment Thursday.

The Jamoi Hodge- Nebraska Football connection did not last long. Thursday, he it was announced he was no longer with the program.

This does not sound like a decommitment. It sounds like the coaching staff may have dropped him from the roster. They have still been recruiting linebackers pretty heavily and that could be a reason why. With several big-time targets on the Nebraska Football radar, it simply seems like there’s no room for Hodge.

Nevertheless, I am disappointed that he is no longer with the program. He seemed like a player that would be able to make an impact for this football team. He has tremendous athleticism and strength, and he also can get to the quarterback in a hurry. He is definitely talented, and will find a football home soon.

My big take away from this is that Nebraska Football may have found somebody else that they liked and figured there was no room for Hodge on the roster. I would’ve rather this happen now then have it become a distraction during the regular season. Nebraska currently has 14 commitments in the 2020 class, and they do not have a linebacker. This is certainly something to watch as Nebraska Football has made it a point to recruit on the defensive side of football.

When asked by the Omaha World-Herald why he was no longer on the roster, he gave a very succinct answer. This is what makes me think he was cut and that he did not decommit. If he had decommitted, he probably would’ve given a more detailed answer. It probably would’ve been a bit streamlined, but it would’ve been more detailed.

"When asked by The World-Herald for a reason why he decommitted, Hodge texted, “Ask the coach. I don’t have nothing to say.”"

In any event, the recruiting continues on for Nebraska Football. Something tells me that they have a couple things in the works. These next couple of days should be fun, and it certainly helps take away the boredom of not having football anymore. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that I miss football on Saturdays.
