Nebraska Football is making waves on the recruiting trail.

With the Nebraska Football season ending on Friday, the team has been hard at work recruiting. So far, it looks like the efforts have paid off. A key outside linebacker is favored to go to Nebraska.

Per a report from Chance Linton of 247Sports, the 247Sports Crystal Ball has favored four-star outside linebacker Kaden Johnson going to Nebraska. In addition, Minnesota and Wisconsin have also been a huge part of his recruitment. This is certainly something to watch, and I remember writing about Johnson in the spring. It looked at the time like he was a lock to go to Minnesota. Now, that does not seem to be the case.

Looking at Nebraska’s 2020 class, they have two outside linebacker commitments in Blaise Gunnerson and Jamil Hodge. The position is definitely stacked with depth, but it could always use some more. Johnson has the perfect body type for the outside linebacker position at six-foot-two, 235 pounds.  He is definitely a good fit size -wise.

When looking at the linebacker position in the 2020 class, a commitment from Johnson would certainly be welcome but not necessary. With two linebackers in the fold already, you have to think that Nebraska would be able to land at least a couple more. Having Johnson commit to the program would be a tremendous asset for the position. It would also give Nebraska the highest-rated recruit at the position for the 2020 class.

Currently, Johnson is being recruited by Erik Chinander and Jovan DeWitt. He took a visit to Nebraska Football on September 28. His most recent visit was to Oregon on October 11.

I’ll be honest, I do put a lot of stock into 247Sports’ Crystal Ball Rankings. . Their predictions are usually right, so they do deserve some credence. I would love for Johnson to come to Nebraska and he would be just another big-time player on that side of the football. After what was a difficult season in some aspects, Nebraska could benefit from all the playmakers they can get. Johnson is certainly capable of having a major impact on that side of the football. As always, Nebraska Football continues to aim for top-tier talent on the recruiting trail.

I love recruiting, and it’s only getting started. I’ll be interested to see what other actions Nebraska takes over the course of these next couple weeks. With Early Signing Day approaching rather soon, the fun is only just beginning for the program.
