Kelli Anne shares photos from an exciting Husker gameday.

It’s been a while since Husker fans have been able to smile about anything, let alone a win. I wasn’t surprised at the amount of photos that were taken to commemorate the event out in Maryland. There are a lot of BIG RED fans that have looked forward to cheering on their team no matter what their record, or what kind of weather.

As the song states, Husker fans show up β€œin all kinds of weather.” It was a rainy game and I’m told not more than 5,000 in the stands by the end of the game. Despite the start time of 3:30 local time, a lot of Maryland fans didn’t get into their seats until the second quarter. Maybe it’s a good thing because the game didn’t go well for the Terrapins early. Husker fans knew to get their tailgate on and then get to the game.

I know quite a few people who were at the game. One former neighbor of mine even traveled from Pennsylvania to watch the Husker football team. Tod Whitman was really glad he did because he ran into Husker Heisman winner Johnny Rodgers!

I also am blessed to also know a couple of big birds. Col. Tom Kokes and Col. Tom Rynders gathered together to tailgate in true Nebraska fashion and share a little Husker goodwill with their friend Jon Shafer. Thank you for your service and GO ARMY!

Another military man I know, Lt. Col. Steve Meints attended some Husker festivities pregame with his friends. Steve is in the middle without a beverage. Just more proof that there was a lot of the Sea of Red that flowed out east this past weekend.

Many fans were excited to see a lot of the new faces on the roster get some playing time. Here is long time Nebraska native Chad Welch and his friend,Greg Slotsky enjoying the view from up top.

The good news for the Huskers is that there were a lot of tickets available for the game so for many it was a family affair. Marilyn Preuitt, Tammy Wood, Taryn Wood, Jenny Willhite and Chelsey Sassine all have more to be thankful for on Thursday.

A special THANK YOU to Todd Condon for sharing his photos. I’m sorry I didn’t get to repost all of them but suffice it to say, Husker spirit is alive and well out east.

It’s a short week that will fly by like a Heisman winner. Strike a pose, get to the stadium, bring your rain slicker and cheer on the Huskers as they take on that ugly bird from across the river. GO BIG RED!
