After six days off following last Saturday’s loss, Nebraska basketball will take on South Dakota State at home.

Nebraska Basketball will take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in what is a big game for the Cornhuskers. Nebraska (0-2) looks for their first win of the season while South Dakota State has yet to lose a game. It is truly an interesting parallel and Nebraska will certainly have their hands full.

Nebraska lost a gut-wrenching two-overtime thriller by a 79-78 margin. In defeat, Kevin Cross played well. He began to find his groove in this game, scoring 19 points on eight-of-15 shooting. Dachon Burke and Cam Mack each chipped in 13 points as well. Although there were some positives, the positives certainly were diminished by the negatives and Nebraska looks to play a much better game on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Jackrabbits were overpowered by a strong USC team by an 84-66 score in their last game. Douglas Wilson did well for the jackrabbits in defeat. He scored 15 points while grabbing three rebounds in 27 minutes of play. Perhaps most impressive was his efficiency. He shot 46.2% from the field. Nevertheless, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Trojans.

This is the first ever meeting between the two schools.

In the Kenpom rankings, South Dakota State sits at No. 126 while Nebraska checks in at No. 136. It will certainly not be an easy game on Friday night.

Key to the Game

Nebraska needs to be able to rebound. They have not been able to rebound solidly over the first two games of the season, and they cannot afford to allow South Dakota State second-chance points. If they do, it could make for a long evening. If Nebraska can secure rebounds, and run up the floor in transition, that is how they will win this game.

Nebraska basketball has done certain things well in each game, but they haven’t been able to put it all together. If they can take all of their positives from the first two games into Friday’s action, then this team will have success.

Next. Things things to watch for against South Dakota State. dark
