Nebraska Basketball: Yvan Ouedraogo will be fun to watch
Nebraska Basketball should benefit greatly from Ouedraogo’s presence.
As Nebraska Basketball gets set to take on UC Riverside Tuesday night, there is one player in the lineup that I am particularly excited to watch. Yvan Ouedraogo is going to be an exciting player to watch, and as a freshman, he will definitely be a building block for the program in the future.
Measuring in at six-foot-nine, he has experience at the international level. He averaged 12.7 points and 9.7 rebounds during the FIBA U16 European Championships and his size and skill makes him the perfect candidate to be a double-double machine. The international game of basketball is said to be a lot harder than regular collegiate basketball. That is certainly something to take into account when considering his skills. As a forward, Ouedraogo will probably see his fair share of rebounds as well as points in the paint.

I’ll be interested to see how much his raw skill hides some of his inevitable mistakes as a freshman. Nevertheless, he will be learning on the fly as will the rest of this Nebraska basketball roster. Come Tuesday night, you are probably going to see a lot of rust and a bit of a feeling out process.
His length should be a benefit to Nebraska Basketball, especially when defending the perimeter. He should also be able to be a matchup nightmare for defenses, as his length and skill will certainly shine on this roster. Hopefully, he can hit some three-point shots.
Tuesday I will be the beginning of a growing process for him, and it will be exciting to see him grow throughout the course of the season. By the time he enters his junior year, he should be one of the better players on Nebraska Basketball’s roster. Obviously, I am not accounting for what recruiting the coaching staff will do in the future. However, I could see him develop into one of the best players in the Big Ten.
It all starts on Tuesday night, and Ouedraogo figures to play a big part in the game. Ouedraogo could be an under the radar get for the coaching staff, and a solid first recruiting class for Fred Hoiberg would go a long way towards building the program the rest of the way.
