The Nebraska Football commitment put together another solid game on Friday.
As the high school playoffs are around the corner, the action continues to heat up. Nebraska commitment and dual-threat quarterback ( and Nebraska football commitment) Logan Smothers continues to play well for the Muscle Shoals Trojans. They beat their opponent on Friday night by a 36-12 margin.
Smothers was a huge reason why the Trojans were successful. He went 17 of-20 through the air, throwing for 199 yards and two touchdowns. As he has done all season, he proved effective rushing the football. He rushed the ball 10 times for 83 yards and a touchdown, showing off his running prowess. In total, he accumulated 282 yards and three touchdowns in what was a balanced game for a quarterback that seems to get better as the competition gets tougher.

The Trojans finished their season undefeated with a 10-0 record. As a result, they get a bye week and then the fun begins for them on November 8. The playoffs will start and Smothers figures to be a huge part of it.
I am really excited about the future of Nebraska Football and what Smothers can bring to the table. He seems to have tremendous poise and makes good decisions with the football. We have seen how much Scott Frost loves to have a running quarterback. With a Scott Frost-type quarterback, running ability is just as important as passing ability. It seems like Smothers can provide both.
Now that the playoffs are about to begin, Smothers will be under even more pressure to excel. I think he can handle it, as he has shown he can lead a team effectively. This is where the legend of Smothers has a chance to grow. If he can string a couple of wins together, it will go a long way towards how he is viewed not only in the high school circuit but in terms of the upcoming ranks of college football. There is a lot of talent at the high school level and 2020 is set to be another solid year in terms of bringing talent to the game.
Right now, Smothers is trying to figure out how to lead the Trojans to victory. As he has shown the season, he has a tremendous will and determination to do so. Hopefully, he can get the job done. I will certainly be following his progress closely and wish him nothing but the best. I can’t wait to see him in Lincoln.
