Nebraska Football continues to recruit heavily.

Nebraska Football is hosting a visitor this weekend and it’s a player who is a little bit out of the ordinary in terms of recruiting. Canadian offensive lineman Leif Magnuson is set to visit Nebraska on Saturday, for what should be an exciting contest against Purdue.

Measuring in at 6-4-5, 260 pounds, he has 10 scholarship offers to this point. A member of the class of 2020, he hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He is relatively new to the line, having just started helping the unit this season for Bethlehem College.

He must certainly be impressive to warrant interest from so many U.S. colleges. I was able to find some film on him, and it is fascinating what he brings to the table. He played both offensive and defensive line for Bethlehem Catholic  High School.

When I watched his film, most of the highlights came from the defensive side of the football. However, his size was evident no matter where he was. Nebraska Football would certainly be able to use his skill set and abilities. He is a tremendous athlete, and when I saw what type of speed he brought, the first thing I thought of was him being able to get out in space and block well on screen passes. That would certainly be able to help Nebraska, as the running backs are certainly a huge part of the passing game. This year, they have been relied upon especially to make the offense work.

The fact that Nebraska is getting a player from Canada to come down and visit is awesome. Generally speaking, I feel like there is a lot of untapped talent in Canada in terms of football. According to a report from Parker Gabriel of the Lincoln Journal Star, Magnuson’s mom and sister have already visited Nebraska.  It will be great to get him down here to see what it’s all about. Especially with the new athletic facility coming in the future, this will certainly be an exciting time for the program moving forward.

I hope Nebraska makes a strong impression on them. They certainly need help on the offensive line and Magnuson would at least provide size there. At the very least, Magnuson is getting familiar with the Nebraska campus. Although Nebraska Football is on the road against Purdue, he should at least be able to get a good feel for what life in Lincoln would be like should he choose to come here.
