The Nebraska Football running back is ready to go.

A lot has happened with the Nebraska Football running backs over the past couple of days, so much so that we have forgotten some of the members in that room. Rahmir Johnson is one that I have forgotten about. A former high school track star, he has battled through injuries over the past couple of months and has been waiting to hit the field.

He may get his chance in the second half of the season. With Maurice Washington out, Nebraska Football will have a chance to see what the rest of their running backs are made of. We have already heard guys like Wyatt Mazour come out and say that he is ready to carry the load. Now, the coaching staff is indicating that Johnson may be ready to play well over these next couple of days.

With Wan’Dale Robinson having been banged up over these past couple of weeks, it’s good that a player like Johnson is ready to play. Obviously, I would have liked to have seen him at the beginning of the season. Nevertheless, he was healing from his injuries. At the very least, he is coming back at a time when Nebraska Football needs him most.

He has three carries for nine yards on the season. Those three carries came in the game against Northern Illinois. To say that he has a chance to improve upon those stats would be an understatement. In any event, he is ready to go and contribute for Nebraska. These next couple of weeks will be interesting, because it will give players who we have not seen yet this season a chance to participate. This is important because it will allow us to take stock in what this roster has not only for right now, but in the future. As of right now, a bowl game is certainly within reach.  As he told Michael Bruntz of 247Sports, he is ready to go when called upon.

"“I’ve always been ready — working hard every day in practice,” Johnson said. “Grinding, learning what I need to do. I’m always ready for the opportunity and now that I’ve moved up a little bit, hopefully I get to show when I can do when the time comes.”"

I’ll be interested to see what he can do. He has a ton of speed, now he needs to translate that to the collegiate level. I truly believe that he will have a spot in the offense in the future. Right now, it is just about getting him snaps and playing time. These next couple of weeks could be extremely important for him.
