The senior is ready to leave his mark for Nebraska Football.

Wyatt Mazour is what I like to call a lunch-pail player. He hasn’t put up tremendous statistics, but he runs hard. However, he may have to put up bigger numbers moving forward. He is ready to take on a bigger role. I am confident he can perform well in doing so.

Every time I see him on the field, he runs hard and is not afraid to find holes in the defense. I would love to see him get more playing time, as I think he brings another element of physicality to the running back position. He also embodies what Nebraska Football is all about. He runs hard, he doesn’t give up on plays, and he makes the most of his snaps.

I am interested to see what he brings down the road as he looks to take on a bigger role. My guess is that he will be mostly used in the open field and in the red zone. He will definitely be able to be most effective there. With injuries hampering the program, somebody will need to step up.

On the year, the senior has eight carries for 31 yards. Averaging 3.9 yards per carry, he certainly has to work for each one he gets. His best game of the season came against Illinois, when he carried the ball two times for 16 yards. Although it wasn’t a large contribution, he certainly made his impact felt. Now, he will have an opportunity to gain even more playing time. He is a player that I would definitely focus on down the stretch.

This game against Indiana may be the perfect springboard for him. They average 4.3 yards allowed per carry. They are certainly not stingy when it comes to run defense. The coaches think highly of Mazour and the fact that he works hard has not been lost on them.

"“Always on deck,” running backs coach Ryan Held said. “Great team guy. The epitome of what we want this place to be. He’s there for everybody on the team. He’s there for everybody in our room, and he’s a good player. I have no qualms putting him in the game.”"

I’m excited to see what he can do. I have been impressed with the way he has played when he has been given the opportunity. Now, he may be able to play a pivotal role in how this team performs down the stretch. As a senior, that is all he can ask for.

As Nebraska Football gets set to take on Indiana, Mazour will presumably have a large opportunity to prove himself the rest of the way. This is probably not the way he predicted he would get playing time, but it is playing time nonetheless.
