Nebraska Football recruit Logan Smothers is excelling under pressure
Nebraska Football has a good quarterback waiting in the wings.
It’s never too early to look at the future, and one Nebraska Football recruit in particular is tearing things up. Dual-threat quarterback Logan Smothers has been playing well at the high school level. The signal-collar from Muscle Shoals, Alabama has been tearing up. As a result, the Muscle Shoals Trojans are 9-0. Smothers has managed to show both his running and passing ability.
In his most recent game, Smothers helped the Trojans defeat Athens (Ga.) by a 49-21 score. The victory gave the Trojans a share of the Region Seven title. This is just another accolade in what has been a tremendous regular season for Smothers.

For his part, Smothers performed well. He went 20-of-26, throwing for 236 yards and three touchdowns. He also showed his running prowess, recording 55 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. In every report I have read about him, he has been able to balance his passing and running talents well. Nebraska football has a good quarterback here. So far, running quarterbacks have been a staple of a Scott Frost-led offense. That does not appear to be changing anytime soon, especially in this era of the mobile quarterback.
I am excited to continue following his progress. He is a player that I think can make an impact as soon as he steps on the field. It will probably be a couple of years before he actually does so in Lincoln. With Luke McCaffrey among others waiting in the wings, he may have to battle for the quarterback position. However, I think he can be a viable starter once he gets his chance.
Putting up big numbers seems to be nothing new for him. He seems to be able to have a good game every time he steps on the field. I will have to find some statistics for him. They are not easy to locate. However, one thing seems for certain. Logan Smothers can effectively move the football down the field. That may sound a little simplistic, but that’s exactly what Nebraska needs right now. Over the last couple weeks, they have had trouble moving the ball down the field. Hopefully, he will be able to help Nebraska with that.
It’s always great to see Nebraska Football recruits perform well. Smothers still has a couple of chances to raise his stock. He certainly doesn’t need them, as it seems he is more-than-ready for the bright lights of college football.
