Noa needs to make an impact for Nebraska Football.

Much ado has been made about Nebraska Football and its receivers. Aside from guys like JD Spielman, many other receivers have not gotten the football.

Kanawai Noa is one of them. I had high hopes for him when he came into the program as a transfer from California. There is no doubt that he can be a playmaker. However, it seems as though the ball has not been able to find him over the past couple of games. That is not entirely his fault. The ball has seemed to struggle in finding the receivers. However, if Nebraska Football wants to make a bowl game, they need their receivers to step up. Noa would definitely fit into that category.

More from Husker Corner

So far, his statistics have been dismal. He has recorded only seven catches for 71 yards. Again, I think that is a product of the ball always finding players like Spielman and Wan’Dale Robinson. To their credit, they have been able to get the job done. However, secondary production is a must for the receiving unit. Noa is certainly a big part of that secondary production.

In their Husker Midseason Report Card, the Lincoln Journal Star listed no as a player whose stock was down. Again, I do not think that it’s his fault. He just has not been able to get opportunities. Now, will he be able to get those opportunities in the second half of the season? That is a whole other question. I do think that they need to get him the ball early and often throughout the course of the next couple of games. I have seen what he can do on his highlight films, and I’m sure many of you have as well. He is a talented football player. There is no doubt about it.

It will be interesting to see if Nebraska Football designs plays with the idea of getting in the ball more. That would be a smart idea on their part, and it would allow for Noa to get into a rhythm with the more catches he got. Particularly when he gets into space, he is difficult to stop. If I was the Nebraska coaching staff, I focus on getting in the ball via slants and play action passes. It is certainly worth a shot, as that could help unleash his big-play potential.

Next. Players who need to step up in second half of season. dark

It will be interesting to see what exactly Nebraska does to get Noa involved in the offense more. They are doing them a disservice by not getting in the football. The offense has not been running smooth and I know they are not purposely denying him the football. They just need to do a better job of making sure they get it to him early and often.
