Nebraska Football was well represented by the XFL.

Brandon Reilly and De’Mornay Pierson-El have both found new football homes. As some of you may know, the XFL Draft was held on Wednesday. Both former Nebraska Football players managed to get selected.

As some of you may remember, Pierson-El was a tremendously good returner for Nebraska.

Reilly was a cataclysmic player for Nebraska. His best season for Nebraska came in 2015. He recorded 40 receptions for 754 yards and four touchdowns. Averaging 18.9 yards per catch, he was truly a big-play threat.

More from Husker Corner

Reilly would finish his Nebraska career with 70 receptions for 1,275 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 18.2 yards per reception during his four years in Lincoln. In total, he notched 1,417 yards from scrimmage and six total touchdowns. He was never able to find a home in the National Football League, but hopefully he can make his mark in the XFL.

Looking at the list of players who were drafted by XFL teams, this has a chance to be a solid league. There are a ton of good collegiate stars and that should be able to keep fans entertained. We have seen another football league flameout as the AAF did not meet expectations. Hopefully, the XFL will fare much better.

I’m certainly going to follow this league, especially since Nebraska players have been drafted. That will give me another reason to watch. I never turn down an opportunity to watch football, and it should be exciting. Hopefully, Riley and Pierson-El can find a home in the XFL and contribute there. They did such good work for Nebraska Football and they certainly have the talent to succeed.

The XFL certainly has potential, and I’m excited to see where it leads. Hopefully, it will have the chance to be successful. At the very least, it will be worth watching with Nebraska players in the fold.
