Green could be an important part of the Nebraska Football defense in the coming years.

The loss to Ohio State was not a pretty one by any means. Scoring only seven points, there was not a lot of good things to take from this game. Especially defensively, there left a lot to be desired.

However, we began to see the type of depth that Nebraska had over the course of this game. Players received their first action of the season, and that included Keem Green. Some of you might remember his commitment at the end of July and how he chose Nebraska. Since then, it has been a matter of getting him up to speed, and adapting him to the Nebraska defense. Although it has been a lot of work, it began to pay off on Saturday night.

A junior, Green recorded one tackle in the defeat. Although that is not a major statistic, it is at least something to build off of. It must’ve felt good for Green to get his first collegiate action. What a setting it was as well. Under the lights on national television against one of the top teams in the country was certainly not an easy place to make a debut.

I’ll be interested to see if he will get further game action as the season wears on. With how late he arrived into the program, playing time is probably going to be minimal for the first couple of weeks. At the very least, he can use this season as fuel for 2020. This playing time should do nothing but help him for the future. Next season will be the chance for him to become a staple on the defensive line.

One thing is for certain: his teammates were excited for him to make his debut. Green is certainly a player that I could see becoming a valued part of the defense in the future. He could certainly be a diamond in the rough for Nebraska Football and another recruiting win for head coach Scott Frost.

"“He’s worked so hard from when he first got here. Just seeing how much he’s developed, and just seeing how much that he’s bought into the culture, seeing him get out there on the field and showcase what he’s been up to, it was huge for everybody,” senior defensive tackle Darrion Daniels said. “Everybody was excited to see him get out on the field and for him to get his feet wet.”"

It sounds like Green has made progress from where he was just a couple weeks ago. Building blocks are important for this program, and Green is certainly a great example to look to.
