Nebraska Football received a big commitment on Saturday.

Saturday’s game against Ohio State was a tough one, but the Nebraska Football program got some great news prior to that. 2021 tackle Teddy Prochazka committed to the program on Saturday night, just before the Cornhuskers were set to take on Ohio State.

Prochazka is a four-star tackle and is the second overall tackle from the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports composite rankings. In addition to Nebraska, he also was highly recruited by Michigan, and there was even a battle going on between the two schools earlier in March. Arizona State, Iowa State, Kansas, and Kansas State also extended offers his way.

Measuring in at six-foot-eight, 250 pounds, Prochazka is an imposing figure as an offensive lineman. As soon as he gets the upper hand on his assignment, he manages to push them back with tremendous force. This creates a clean pocket for the quarterback and allows the quarterback to have time to make his throws. As we saw on Saturday night against Ohio State, this is something that Nebraska desperately needs.

This helps Nebraska begin a solid 2021 recruiting class. Currently, weak-side defensive end RJ Sorenson is the other commitment in the class. At the very least, Nebraska Football has two solid players that they can build the class around. Especially in college football, depth is the name of the game. If a team has depth, that puts them in a better position down the road. Especially in the Big Ten where every game is physical and requires you to play the entire game, physical and dependable football players are crucial.

I can wait to see how Nebraska Football fills out this 2021 class. There is obviously some more work to do there, but they at least have great building blocks. Despite the loss on Saturday, Teddy Prochazka was a great commitment for a program that is looking to build itself into a contender.
