There is some good news for Nebraska Football ahead of next Saturday’s game.

After what was a tough loss against the Ohio State buckeyes on Saturday, Nebraska Football undoubtedly wants to turn the page. It appears that the oddsmakers have done so. According to the Circa Las Vegas Sportsbook, Nebraska Football is an eight-point favorite over Northwestern.

There is no denying that Saturday’s game was a tough one. Ohio State showed that Nebraska still has a lot of work to do if they want to get to that level. Between media expectations and the thinking that everything would mesh perfectly in year two under Scott Frost, expectations were sky-high. So far, it hasn’t been as smooth a year as some fans would like, but they are certainly miles ahead of where they were a year ago.

More from Husker Corner

Northwestern is a team that is struggling. They have a 0-2 mark in Big 10 play, and a 1-3 mark overall. Losing a player like quarterback Clayton Thorson has made life difficult for the Wildcats.  They come into Saturday’s game looking to try and get back on track. That will be the theme for both teams. Nebraska needs to get back on track and secure their fourth win of the season. Considering that four wins was their total a year ago, that would certainly be a milestone win for the program.

I’m looking for a more polished effort from quarterback Adrian Martinez and better play from the offensive line. The offensive line struggled against Ohio State on Saturday.  There was not much they could do correctly. Hopefully, Northwestern will be an opponent that will serve as a bit of a break for the line. They got beat badly on Saturday, and they could certainly use a game where things are a bit easier for them.

It’s time to move forward to next week. Although the loss from Saturday still stings quite a bit, this is a marathon not a sprint. Rebuilding a program takes time. I trust that coach Scott Frost can get the job done and that Nebraska Football is in good hands with him. On to Northwestern, and as always Go Big Red!
