Time for some big eats for the big Nebraska Football game against Ohio State.

What a slobberknocker of a game in Illinois! Holy HITFEST on both sides of the ball! I can’t imagine the amount of ice bags that were passed out on the plane that night. One of the Huskers doing some serious hitting was linebacker JoJo Domann who also earned his Blackshirt this week. Congrats!

After overcoming a lot of problems holding onto the ball, the Huskers were able to come away with a W in the column. As for injuries which Coach Frost won’t talk about, I checked the NCAA website and RB Maurice Washington was listed as questionable for the game but I know he’s been practicing. Coach Ryan Held said he is “fine.”

i was also pleasantly surprised to see Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez return to his end of the year form there in the second half. His decisions were quicker and he was able to make plays with his feet. This is no small task as the Illinois defense was ready to play.

Huskers are still hurting at the kicking position. Doesn’t look like that will get solved in time for Saturday. I reached out to one of Nebraska’s BEST legs to get some insight as to why no one else can step up in that positoin. Thanks Drew Brown!

Next up, the Buckeyes and Nebraska is going to have it’s toughest test facing a #5 ranked team that has dominated early. Add to the mix that ESPN College Gameday will be in town and the stress level is definitely palpable in Lincoln. If you want to be in the “pit” for ESPN, they say arrive at 5:30 am. Pace yourself because the game is at 6:30 p.m. and televised on ABC.

Searching for inspiration for this week I reached out to a friend of mine who is a diehard Ohio State fan. He’s lucky he’s a relative of my football husband because I’ve broken off friendships before for such foolish bad taste. All kidding aside he said he loves Buckeye balls. Yes, it’s ok to laugh. I did.

It’s actually a peanut butter ball dipped in chocolate. If you are watching the game at home feel free to make up a batch. They do look tasty. But the weather report is fluctuating with warm and sunny temperatures and no one likes sticky chocolate fingers. The Huskers will need stickier fingers on the football this week though.

Husker Running back Dedrick Mills is doing what he can to keep his hands sticking to the ball this week. He’s been holding onto it and carrying it around campus all week. I applaud his spunk. For more on how Mills is finding his groove, check here.

As for what I’m bringing to the Husker tailgate, I stayed on the peanut butter theme. I crushed up two sleeves of peanut butter oreos (saving one sleeve for yourself) and added them to the recipe for rice krispy treats. Add 2 TBS more butter and 3/4 cup more marshmallows. I’m hoping the Husker Blackshirts crush on Ohio State QB Justin Fields. He hasn’t been pressured in the pocket yet. I’m hoping he gets crushed in a Colin Miller and Mo Barry sandwich!

Speaking of peanut butter, if you haven’t tried Skrewball whiskey, you are missing out. I don’t care for whiskey but even I could sip on this stuff. I spent the weekend recipe testing and came up with a tasty jello shot (and a bit of a hangover lol). Start with grape jello and blend in the cup of boiling water. Pour in 3/4 cup Skrewball and chill it down and put it into shot cups. It tastes like a PB&J sammy! Seriously!

I’m nervous about the game and the big stage Nebraska is playing on Saturday night. If they play a dang near perfect game, there is a chance they come away with a WIN. The atmosphere will be electric to say the very least. Tailgating and the stadium will be packed.

Feel free to hit me up with your Husker tailgate photos @Kelian_NE or share your recipes. Be friendly. Be LOUD and as always, GO BIG RED!
