Nebraska Football has something special in Robinson.

Saturday night was a fun game, wasn’t it? Nebraska Football managed to pull out the victory behind several strong offensive performances.

One of the performances that stood out in particular was the play of Wan’Dale Robinson. Throughout the course of the last couple of games, I keep looking for him to show some sort of freshman jitters. So far, he looks like an upperclassman. Much like with Adrian Martinez, I was waiting for Robinson to have a breakout game. It’s not that I didn’t think he was performing, I just wanted to see him have a great night. He had one of those on Saturday against Illinois.

More from Husker Corner

He rushed for 89 yards on 19 attempts, and recorded a touchdown to boot. He also managed to make an impact in the passing game. He tallied eight receptions for 79 yards and two touchdowns. A 27-yard grab was his longest of the afternoon. He really showed his poise and determination throughout the course of the game. Nebraska Football had trouble with the health of running backs at one point in the game. Robinson was able to step in and make an impact as soon as he took the field. That’s hard to do, yet he did it masterfully.

The way he ran was impressive as well. He ran the football hard, and he ran it well. He kept drives alive as  he weaved his way past defenses. One of the things that impressed me most was how fast and explosive he ran after the caught the football. He was shifty, he always seemed to take the right running lane, and he made defenses look silly. I was impressed with how well he played given the moment. Under the lights in a must-win game seem to be no problem for him.

He is the type of player that could be a superstar for the program. He is already making such an impact, and he put all of his skills on full display on Saturday. I can’t wait to see him develop and grow. I heard comparisons to Rondale Moore of Purdue, and if he can turn out to be like Moore, that would be awesome.

Next. Three takeaways from win over Illinois. dark

He is such a nightmare for defenses, and he brings so much to the table offensively. The sky is truly the limit for him. He has the ability to be a game-changer, and I have a feeling he’ll be a huge part of the Nebraska Football offense not only in the coming years, but in the coming weeks as well.
