Nebraska Football has a chance to benefit greatly from College GameDay.

With Ohio State coming to town for next week’s game, Nebraska Football will have some very special visitors on campus. For the first time since 2007, College GameDay will visit Lincoln.

As some of you may recall, the 2007 edition was when the USC Trojans came to town and defeated Nebraska by a 49-31 score. Stafon Johnson tore up the Nebraska defense, rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown. In total, USC dominated on the ground. They scored five rushing touchdowns in total. John David Booty threw two touchdowns as USC quieted the Memorial Stadium crowd. The Trojans used their balanced offensive attack to completely demoralize the Nebraska defense.

Nebraska Football has a challenge of their own next Saturday. Justin Fields is coming to Memorial Stadium, as the Buckeyes look to continue their solid season. They took care of Miami (Ohio) on Saturday by a 76-5 score. Chase Young and J.K. Dobbins are just some of the names to watch out for next weekend. This is a very balanced team on both sides of the football. If you make mistakes, they can beat you. Hopefully, Nebraska Football can clean up some of the errors they made on Saturday night.

Aside from just the football part of this, this is awesome for Nebraska to have College GameDay on their campus. I realize it’s because they’re playing Ohio State, and the fact that the Buckeyes are one of the top teams in the country right now. However, this will just add to the excitement for the game. As Saturday showed, this Nebraska team is not going down without a fight. They could give Ohio State some trouble. Combine the upstart Cornhuskers with the fact that this is a night game, and College GameDay just adds another element of excitement to the day.

Furthermore, it’s great for the program. Nebraska has always been recognized throughout history as one of the top programs in college football. That pageantry has gone away in recent years, and the program has slowly worked its way up to trying to get back to the pinnacle of the collegiate game. With a 3-1 record heading into next weekend, national television certainly helps them in their search for respect. Outside of the Big Ten conference and Husker fans themselves, I get the feeling that nobody respects Nebraska.

Now is their time to show the country that they are indeed a talented program. This is a big game for them on many levels. If they win against Ohio State on national TV, this could put the program on the radars of many. If they lose, it will just give those who didn’t believe in Nebraska to begin with a chance to gloat. This game is going to be physical, this game is going to be tough, and this game has a lot to offer for Nebraska Football. Thanks to College GameDay, Nebraska Football will be at center stage for the first time in a while.
