Nebraska Football got great production from the position on Saturday.

All week, I have talked about things that need to be better in order for Nebraska Football to succeed. One thing that does not need to be better is the play of the tight ends. If anything, they need to continue their performance from Saturday.

In the win over South Alabama, the tight ends caught a total of four passes for 74 yards. Jack Stoll was the leader for the game at the position, catching three balls for 66 yards. Although he did not play in the rest of the game, he was a big reason for Nebraska Football’s offensive spurts in the first half. On a day where the offense struggled, the position was  a bright spot.

Heading into Colorado on Saturday, Nebraska Football needs to make sure they keep feeding the tight ends. They have the ability to make big plays, and run after the catch. Stoll showed a little bit of his quickness, and proved he could be effective at catching the deep ball. When he was on the field, he had a knack for making the big play

The tight ends need to make sure they not only can catch the ball, but they need to be able to block efficiently as well. With the offensive line struggling a bit on Saturday, hopefully they can right the ship against Colorado. However, the tight ends need to be ready to do their blocking as well. No matter what they do, they should figure to be a huge part of the game. They need to be a big part of the game if they want the offense to run successfully. Head coach Scott Frost was pleased with the production from the position on Saturday.

"“A couple plays here and there, but those two guys both played at a pretty high level,” Frost said. “Both of them look faster this year. I think both of them are more comfortable in the offense, and hopefully we can utilize those guys a lot more than we did a year ago.”"

It will be great if they could utilize the tight ends more than they did last year. The tight end is a very valuable part of the passing game. With the big bodies Nebraska Football has at the position, they would be wise to at least give them some targets and see what they can do. They showed a little bit of what they are capable of on Saturday, and if they can build off that for the rest of the season, that would be awesome
