The Nebraska Football defender received accolades for his  performance.

Nebraska Football had a great weekend defensively, there is no doubt about that. Especially in the secondary, they dominated that portion of the game. Quite frankly, it was what gave the Cornhuskers the win. Especially on what was a short field at times, Nebraska didn’t have a ton of room to work with.

Eric Lee had perhaps the best game of anybody on the field. He had two interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown. It was such a great thing to see him play as physically and as focused as he did. He looked like the shutdown corner we all know he can be. For his efforts on Saturday, he was named to Pro Football Focus’ Week 1 Team of the Week.

Considering all of the great college football action that took place as weekend, that is a very big honor. Lee definitely carried the secondary. According to Pro football Focus, he faced three passes thrown his way. With the two interceptions, he compiled an 11.1 passer rating. He certainly made the life of the South Alabama offense miserable. That was certainly a pleasant surprise, and it gave Nebraska Football  the spark they needed throughout the course of the game.

As with the rest of the team, Lee will have a much tougher challenge against Colorado on Saturday. The Buffaloes come in with a stellar offense, one that features a balanced attack in the running and passing game. Lee will definitely have to figure into the equation, as Stephen Montez is certainly not a quarterback they can let stand in the pocket and throw. They need to be able to get to him and make him think about his presence in the pocket and where he is going to throw the football. If Lee plays is physically and aggressively as he did on Saturday, that will this be another asset in stopping the Colorado aerial assault.

Lee definitely deserved to be a part of this team. He worked hard on Saturday in ensuring that Nebraska’s first game of the season was successful. He also provided a ton of momentum to the team, and his interception return electrified Memorial Stadium. Hopefully, this is not the last we see out of him. He certainly has a chance to be a successful defender
